The all-new BMW 4 Series Coupe
marks the beginning of a new era at BMW. It’s a new product line for the BMW Coupe and falls right in line with the larger 6 Series and 8 Series Coupes.

Launched as the latest generation of BMW’s sporty mid-size Coupe, the new 4 Series Coupe is available as both a 428i with a TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a 435i with the Twin Power Turbo 3.0-liter inline six. Both are available with a standard eight-speed sport automatic or six-speed manual transmission, and both offer a choice of rear-wheel drive or xDrive, BMW’s intelligent all-wheel drive system.

The new BMW 4 Series Coupe is visibly larger in width and wheelbase than the outgoing BMW 3 Series Coupe, and its stretched silhouette sits considerably lower to the road. This, together with the BMW-typical short overhangs, long hood and set-back passenger compartment with flowing roofline, give the BMW 4 Series Coupe good visual balance. The striking front end – with characteristic BMW features such as the double-kidney grille, four round headlights and a large air intake in the front apron – sharply resembles the BMW 3 Series. New elements of the 4 Series Coupe are the air breathers positioned rear of the front wheel arches to reduce drag. Muscular wheel arches, a wide track and prominent horizontal lines yield an aggressive stance.

The interior of the 4 Series Coupe is a nice combination of sportiness and luxury. All driving controls are arranged ergonomically for comfortable access. In the rear, contoured seats continue the sporty theme. Recessed head rests and broad, continuously molded side supports give the rear bench seat the appearance of two individual seats. High-grade material combinations and finish accentuate the premium feel.

Buyers may choose the Sport or Luxury trim lines as alternatives to standard specification, and M Sport is another alternative. All three allow visible individualization of the exterior and interior appearance.

The defining characteristics of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe are its driving dynamics and aesthetics. As always, the focus is on steering accuracy, precision, linear control response and agility. Sophisticated chassis technology, near-perfect 50-50 weight distribution, fine-tuning in the wind tunnel and lightweight construction all contribute to meet the goal.

The new Coupe has a longer wheelbase, wider track and lower ride height than the previous generation Coupe. Its lower suspension brings the car’s center of gravity down to below 20 inches, giving it the lowest center of gravity of any car in the BMW line-up.

The 2014 BMW 428i Coupe has a base MSRP of $41,425 and the 435i Coupe starts at $46,925. The 428i xDrive Coupe and 435i xDrive start from $43,425 and $48,925.
